This holiday season, we are strengthening our partnership with Stepping Stone Emergency Housing.
Typical homeless shelters provide residents a meal and a place to stay for the night. The way that Stepping Stone is setting itself apart and really achieving better outcomes is through their case management and goal plans.
They take a holistic approach and work with their residents to come up with goals necessary to be successful in life. Goals in the area of social, financial, health, housing, and finding jobs. The hope is that when people leave Stepping Stone, they will not have to experience homelessness again.
Last year, we partnered with Stepping Stone to End Homelessness. We asked our residents, employees, and supporters to donate to Stepping Stone. Every dollar raised, Norhart matched. Together we raised thousands of dollars.
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give,” Winston Chruchill.
In giving back, you can help by donating items. We have bins located at three of our apartment buildings: Emberwood, Mill Pond Forest, and Mill Pond II & III. Check out our latest video and see how you can help.
Aside from donating items to the bin, Stepping Stone is looking for volunteers. There are a lot of opportunities for individuals as well as groups to get involved. Some examples of this might include leading an arts and crafts activity, donating a dinner, or supervising the computer lab.
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much,” Helen Keller.
Our partnership with Stepping Stone is so important because they are supporting people who are dealing with homelessness. We're passionate about creating that better way for people to live and that doesn't just mean in our own apartments, that also means supporting the people in our community.
Together, Norhart and Stepping Stone Emergency Housing are creating a better way for people to live and you can too!
